50 Years of Probing the Earth System: Lessons Learned and Future Directions

We are excited that you will be joining us for this milestone event! In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M), we will reflect on the institute’s scientific achievements and explore the future directions of Earth system research.

The symposium will feature an outstanding lineup of distinguished speakers from across the Max Planck Society, as well as scientists whose careers began at MPI-M. Together, we will look back on five decades of research and collaboration, and look ahead to the exciting opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Engage in stimulating talks, lively discussions, and meaningful exchanges with colleagues, collaborators, and friends of MPI-M. This special event offers a unique platform for dialogue, where longtime companions, former colleagues, and current researchers come together to share insights and engage in thought-provoking conversations about the past, present, and future of Earth system science.
